The UNESCO Chair in "Heritage and Cultural Landscape" understands scientific and cultural communication as an essential part of its mission. Its outreach activities aim not only to share research results, but also to broaden the dialogue with society , promote access to knowledge, and strengthen the appreciation of cultural heritage in its multiple forms.

Academic and Technical Publications

The Chair encourages the production of knowledge in accessible and diverse formats, with emphasis on:

  • Scientific articles in leading national and international journals ;

  • Books and e-books organized by faculty and researchers on the team;

  • Technical reports and manuals aimed at public managers and communities;

  • Thematic notebooks containing summaries of research and extension projects.

Ibero-American Colloquium on Cultural Landscape, Heritage and Design

Desde 2010, a Cátedra organiza o Colóquio Ibero-Americano, um dos principais fóruns de debate acadêmico e institucional sobre paisagem cultural na América Latina e na Península Ibérica. O evento reúne pesquisadores, gestores, estudantes e representantes de comunidades em torno de temas como:

  • Planejamento urbano e paisagem histórica

  • Patrimônio imaterial e memória coletiva

  • Políticas públicas e justiça territorial

  • Patrimônio e mudanças climáticas

 

Edições anteriores realizadas em Belo Horizonte, Ouro Preto, Serro, Rio de Janeiro, Lisboa e Sevilha.

Digital and Audiovisual Content

The Chair develops a series of multimedia and in-person activities to reach different audiences:

  • Videos, interviews, and short documentaries about cultural projects and landscapes;

  • Webinars and themed live streams with guest researchers;

  • Virtual exhibitions featuring cartographic, photographic, and audiovisual material;

  • Social media and newsletter for promoting events, announcements, and publications.

Impact and Reach

The outreach activities of the Chair seek to transform academic production into instruments for critical reflection, citizen participation, and the promotion of cultural diversity , especially among traditional communities, indigenous peoples, quilombola communities, and vulnerable urban populations.
